He came home with his first art project the other day, and the reality of Josiah in Haitian preschool really hit home to me.

It says "Thank you Dessalines for our independence."
And by the way. Josiah totally didn't paint that. His teacher did. He's not that coordinated. He even admitted it that he made his teacher do it for him. :) That's my boy.

Having our own internationally adopted children, we can identify. Nothing is clearly obvious until it hits you where your children are. What irony that your son is being taught to thank Dessalines. Hopefully the school is not too heavy on the political stuff at such an early age. Puts the Native American's view of Thanksgiving into perspective, too.
