So after attending one of the four Christmas Eve services at Crosspointe tonight, (with the other three being at 3,5,7 on Monday-- stop by if you can... it's an AWESOME service...) we were having Advent.

One of my favorite things about doing advent with the kids is listening to Nia's prayers at the end. This is a summary of her prayer tonight. I am NOT exaggerating the number of times she said this... it was probably actually MORE than I am mentioning.

Dear God, Thank you for my mom and dad and thank you for my brothers. And thank you for my sister. But I don't actually have a sister, so I pray you will give me a sister. I really, really, really want a sister. So God, will you bring me a sister, cause I really want one. Really. So could I have one? God, maybe you will say yes and maybe you will say no. But if you say no, I will be really sad because I really want a sister. God, PLEASE bring me a sister. Maybe someone could sell their baby or something and then we could get her, and that way I would have a sister. Thank you for my nana and grandad and grandma and grandpa. Amen.

  1. OK, that SERIOUSLY made me laugh out loud!!!

I thought about calling you to tell you how much it made me laugh. But it' 9:09... even though you posted at 9:00, maybe you went to sleep in the last 9 minutes... Maybe I will call you anyway.

  2. OOOH boy....I mean girl, maybe;-)

  3. Oh, stop being so SELFISH and just GIVE HER A SISTER ALREADY!
    (I mean, c'mon, it's CHRISTMAS!)
    (I mean CHIRSTMAS.)
(And my stinking spacebar is still wonky.)

  4. That is absolutely the funniest thing I have read today...'maybe someone could sell their baby...' She is covering all her bases there!
Tell her if/when she moves to Haiti she can have over 10 sisters to play with! They won't be black tummy babies, but hey...can't have everything!

  5. i love your kids! i got to hang out with both nico and nia a bit yesterday. so cute.

nico was enthralled by my watch. and he was excited to show me his tennis shoes with the flames on them.

and conversations with nia right now are very fun. we had a great time watching (and providing interesting commentary for) the kids' interview video.

  6. I am laughing so hard I am crying! Nia, tell God how you REALLY feel - really!

I am glad to know she knows God may say no, but she would be sad...perhaps a Christmas miracle?

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Haha, this is way too funny. LOOK OUT...God listens to these kinds of prayers! A friend of mine's youngest daughter prayed for a little brother AND sister (they already had 3 kids, ages 7, 5 and 4 at the time). Every night she thanked God for the little brother and sister in Mommy's belly. Well, 14 months ago they they were very surprised to find out they were pregnant. Shortly after that they found out it was twins. When it came for ultrasound time they found out it was a BOY and a GIRL!!!
